Dr. Ferrazzano is a Professor in Pediatrics, Division Chief of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, Director of the Pediatric Brain Care Clinic at the Waisman Center, and the initial recipient of the Enid and Jerry Weygandt Professorship in Pediatric Critical Care. His research interests include pediatric acquired brain injury, the pathophysiology of hypoxic-ischemic brain injury and neuroprotection, and effective therapies. Dr. Ferrazzano’s previous research has used small animal MRI to identify biomarkers of injury and therapeutic effect in animal models of pediatric cerebral ischemia. Currently, he is leading on a study aimed at identify imaging biomarkers of long-term neurocognitive outcome after severe adolescent TBI. In addition, Dr. Ferrazzano is part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers investigating youth head impacts and concussion, laying the foundation on which to build a comprehensive Center for Pediatric Acquired Brain Injury Research.
